matter due to conscience | lisa | Thursday, March 12, 2015 |
Question: Every so often i remember past sins, even sins from since I was a young child, and i wonder if i actually confessed them. i do penance for some that i remember but if i have not actually confessed them(which i am unsure of) should i mention them again in confession? I worry so much that i will go to hell for them. |

Dear Lisa: Sorry for the delay in answering. When you make a good confession and are absolved in the Sacrament of Confession all of your sins, even those you no longer remember, are forgiven. You are okay. What I would suggest is to make an appointment with your confessor to do what is called a "General Confession". This type of confession is a life review. You talk about your spiritual life throughout your life. Those sins going all the way back to childhood will be included in this. Perhaps doing a General Confession, which will wipe the slate totally clean, will give you some peace of mind. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
