Question: Sometimes we have to suffer in Life ,not because we are BAD but because we didnt know where to stop being Good. Sometimes we have to suffer in Life because we are paying for someone elses sins (maybe be our fore fathers ) This is what i came across when i was reading an article on suffering .I am not sure which one is appropriate .i cant make anything of this . i feel these are two contradictory statements |

Dear Isabel: I have no idea what this means: "not because we are BAD but because we didnt know where to stop being Good." We suffer from several sources: 1) Original Sin: When Adam and Eve sinned it changed all creation. Humans fell from the preternatural state to a state in which Man has concupiscence (the tendency to sin). 2) Life: We suffer the consequences of a fallen world (e.g., tornadoes, sickness) 3) Genetics: We suffer from inheriting negative physical, mental psychological genetic traits. 4) Personal Sin: We suffer from the consequences of our own personal sins. 5) Bad Decisions: We suffer from the consequences of our own non-sin bad decisions (e.g., choose wrong friends, stay up too late at night and thus come late to work). 6) Ancestral Sins: We suffer from the consequences of the sins of our ancestors, which are handed down by behavioral example, by spiritual dysfunction, or demonic attachment to a family line. 7) Sins of Others: We suffer the consequences of other people's sins (e.g., drunk driver, robber, slanderer, someone casting a curse on us, etc). 8) Bad Decisions of others: We suffer the consequences of other people's non-sin bad decisions (e.g., park to closely to our car so we cannot get out to go to work). None of these contradict each other. Rather these are merely difference levels of events that may cause us to suffer. Hope this helps.
