Question: Is it a sin to borrow money from your credit card to use for gambling at a casino ? |
||
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD
Dear Jack: Sorry about the delay in responding. Gambling in-and-of-itself is not a sin as long as one does not gamble away money that is needed for oneself and the family. Borrowing money from a credit card to gamble is also not a sin in-and-of-itself, unless it causes excessive debt that damages one's financial health. But, borrowing money to gamble is profoundly stupid and a sign of a possible gambling addiction, especially if this is excessive or done on a regular basis. If that is the case, I would advise that you seek professional counseling to explore that possibility. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
