Praying to Angels Crystal Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Question:

Dear Brother,

I pray to Saint Michael the Archangel daily for protection and I'm grateful for his intercession, but I wanted to know can a person pray to the other Archangels such as Chamuel, Uriel, and/or Jophiel?

As from what I understand, Saint Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel are part of the Church, but the other Archangels do not have the same status as they do, but I'm not completely sure.

Also in regards to prayers to some of the other Archangels, some of the websites that post them are part of New Age practices such as Chakra alignment, tarot, astrology and more. If someone wanted to pray to the Archangels I mentioned, is there a website that is Catholic based to obtain their prayers.

If you could give me some insight about the Archangels I've mentioned and whether a person can pray to them for intercession; I would be very grateful.

Thank you,
God Bless,
Crystal

Dear Crystal:

Frankly, I do not understand why you would want to pray to these "new age" angels. You must stop reading new age sources.

The Church recognizes by name only Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, plus our Guardian Angel, who whom we do not know his name and should not "name" him or try to seek his name. These are the only angels to whom we are to pray.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
