Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear Vinoth:

I am sorry for not responding earlier. I have not been well this past week.

You identified yourself as a Hindu, but I can only respond to you as a Christian. We believe that our God, that is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who has revealed himself as the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit, is the only true God. All other claims of god are false. It Is only within this context I can answer your question.

God always answers our prayers. But, His answers may not be to our liking. His answer may be yes, no, maybe, or not yet. Ultimately, God is not in a tell you what to do. You have to weigh the choices and make a decision. You can ask God to help you evaluate the choices, but the decision is yours and you have to make it.

The true God is not a vengeful God. He is a loving, merciful, and forgiving God. He is told us in 1 John 1:9: "if we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." God is not about a punishment, He is about forgiveness. Thus, ask Him to forgive your sins, and if you are sincerely sorry for your sins and promise to try not to do them again then you will be forgiven.

Even though you are not Christian God will still hear your prayers and he will judge your heart according to your desire to seek Him "with sincere heart, and moved by grace, try in [your] actions to do his will as [you] know it through the dictates of conscience". [quoted from the Catechism, no. 847].

We will be in prayer for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
