more occassions of sin james Monday, July 28, 2014

Question:

hi brother

in the past i downloaded music and i wanted to make restitution by purchasing the cd

is it a serious occasion of sin if i went looking for this cd at the music store and i had to browse through cds that had immodest imagery on the covers , i did not dwell on anything immodest but i knew that looking for the cd could possibly expose me to bad images

thank you

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear James:

It is not possible in this world to avoid being exposed to improper and modest images. We would have to go up into the mountains and live as mountain men to avoid such exposure.

In the case you present you are not looking for this imagery and you are not dwelling upon it. Therefore there is no sin. But, this can be for you a "near occasion of sin."

I would suggest, therefore, that you do not need to sort through CDs at a music store. Since you know what specific CDs your wanting to buy you can buy them from Amazon. In this way you don't have to sort through the immodest images.

We are praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
