Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD
Dear Fred: Congratulations on your coming into full communion in Jesus' Church. I praise God for that. This coming Easter Vigil will be twenty-one years since I came into the Church after serving many years as a Baptist minister. Welcome to the Church. To answer your question, no, sorry, it is not possible for me suggest a verse as I do not know you. What verse stands out for you, what verse has special meaning for you, what verse speaks to you? For me the verse that has special meaning is 2 Timothy 1:7 ~ "...for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control." This passage tells me that God does not want us to be timid, that is, God wants us to be bold in the faith, He wants us to be courageous in the practice of our faith as we go about our daily lives. Thus, we are given a spirit of power in order to accomplish that. That power is moderated by the virtue and charism of love, which is maintained and guaranteed by self-discipline. That is the verse that speaks to me, maybe it speaks to you, too, I do not know. You need to read the Scriptures and find some verse that speaks to you. Again, welcome to the Church.
