Question Title Posted By Question Date
Killing even the animals Joseph Monday, November 18, 2013

Question:

Brother,

I am asking this question here because the faith section gave me a "ban ip" error. I'm sure it's from server issues and you wouldn't ban little old me from your forums ;).

Just a quick question about the old Testament where God told the Israelites to kill all the men women, children and even the animals. Just wondering what killing the animals would accomplish? I know demons can infest them do you think it had something to do with that? All in all it's not really important to me but I was just curious. God means business when he says to even get rid of the livestock :).

Thank you. I hope all is well I haven't seen these forums updated in a while. Also have a Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. Any thoughts on perhaps putting out a master PDF of all the warfare prayers a little ahead of schedule? Just in case your health deteriorates suddenly it would be a shame to lose all of your work. I will cut and paste in the mean time though but it would be nice to have a PDF.

Dear Joseph:

No, you are not banned. I checked the code and I think everyone was banned. It should be fixed now.

The only commentary I can find concerning the killing of animals in addition to the people who being judged by God (See 1 Samuel 15) is that it appears to have been a tradition in wars of extermination that all things, people, cities, animals, etc. were to be killed and blotted out. It appears that one reason for this tradition to prevent the conquerers from confiscating these things for their own private use.

The Haydock commentary suggest that another reason that animals were killed is that all the people (Canaanites, etc.) were cursed. The father of Canaan was Ham, the son of Noah, who cursed the line of Canaan (see Genesis 9:18-28). That which is cursed must be destroyed completely. Haydock states the the word "destroy" in the passage of 1 Samuel means "as a thing accursed."

The reason that the children were killed is that they will follow wicked ways then grown and thus contamination Israel. We must remember that God knows the future and is the Judge of all things, whose judgment is perfect. Haydock says:

Destroy, as a thing accursed. (Haydock) --- Child. The great master of life and death (who cuts off one half of mankind whilst they are children) has been pleased sometimes to ordain that children should be put to the sword, in detestation of the crimes of their parents, and that they might not live to follow the same wicked ways. But without such ordinance of God, it is not allowable in any wars, how just soever, to kill children. (Challoner) --- The Israelites were now to execute God's orders with blind obedience, as he cannot be guilty of injustice.

Haydock makes the distinction between what is allowed in human war and what is allowed by God's ordinance concerning the killing of whole populations (e.g., children).

This point is important today in that the false religion of Islam, founded by a false prophet, Mohammad, borrowed from ancient Israel (and from the Catholic Church), but failed to understand that which he "borrowed." On this subject of killing children and other non-combatants that is practiced in Islam there is the misinterpretation of Jewish Scriptures in the proposition of Jihad (holy war). Jihad allows for for the killing of non-combatants which, according to them, is done by upon the directions of Allah (as specified in the non-holy and false scriptures of the Qu'ran).

God cannot have possibly directed Islam to kill people as they do, as God would never use them to administer His perfect Justice as He did with the Jews, as Islam is a religion born of delusion at best, and by Satan at worse, and in any event is a religion promoted by Satan.

Another possible reason for Israel to kill the animals may be related to the Jewish food laws about meat offered to idols (see St. Paul's comments on this in 1 Corinthians 10). St. Paul was talking about animals that were already sacrificed to idols, thus the reason to kill in the animals in these wars of extermination cannot be directly related to the food laws. I am just speculating as to another possible reason, among other reasons. The most probable reason is the tradition in wars of extermination, and the fact that Canaan was a cursed people.

I went beyond your question Wink as I often do in these Q&As.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary

P.S. Someone has volunteered to work on compiling these Q&As into books. The Faith and Spirituality Forum and probably the Spiritual Warfare forum will be multi-volumes.

Also on the list to transform into a book are the Spiritual Warfare Prayers. It will take many, many hours to transform the prayers into book form (even pdf form). Thus, that cannot be accomplished until the list of prayers are finished. However, if you have already cut and paste into a Word file, for example, send it to me as that will save us a lot of time. We will give you credit in the book as an editor.

In case of my death I have Life Insurance, with the Oblates and Missioners of St. Michael as beneficiary, so that money will be available to keep the websites going for many years in terms of web host lease fees.

Joe, my associate director of the deliverance apostolate, will take special care to persevere the Spiritual Warfare Prayers and other material concerning spiritual warfare.
