Question: Brother, What do you think of the new confession app that will be out soon? Is this a valid way to have confession? Basically it will be a live connection to a priest whom will hear your confession. It will show red when the priest is away and I guess green when one is present. It is financed by a priest to allow more access to the sacrament. There is a website with details. Myconfessor.org. Thank you.

Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCL, LTh, DD, LNDC Dear Joseph: I contacted Father Heilman, who offers the app. He said the app is just to let people know when a priest is available for Confession at the parish. The Confession has to take place directly with the priest in the normal fashion. Confession cannot be given over the phone or Internet, so avoid anyone who offers this. This Confession app by Father Heilman, however, is not offering confession over the Internet. His app applies to his parish only who must come to him in the Confessional at his parish. Other priests can use the app for their parishes. I suggested to him to place a disclaimed on the app so people are not confused about this. God Bless, Bro.
