One night stand with married woman | John | Tuesday, April 23, 2013 |
Question: To my shame, three years ago I had a one night stand with a married woman. We have been friends for over twenty years. The problem is, she wants to stay in touch. I have been ignoring her emails etc because I don't think we should contact each other because of her husband. My question is should I ignor her? She doesn't live in the same country as me, and her husband doesn't know what happend. I feel guilty ignoring her, but what we did was so wrong. She said she loves her husband, and just wants to be friends, which I believe. |

Dear John: I moved your question from the Spiritual Warfare forum to here because the question is not about spiritual warfare. Let me answer your question by asking you a question. If your wife had a one-night-stand, how would you feel if she wanted to be "just friends" with her accomplice in adultery and stay in touch? While it is technically possible to forgive and become friends with a former sin partner, this cannot be done with there is a spouse involved unless the spouse gives permission. In a sense, this woman is still committing adultery by not letting go of her sin partner and wanting to stay in touch. I know from personal experience with my wife's adultery that this woman's husband will see her wanting to stay in touch with you, behind his back, as a betrayal. Your instincts are correct — This communication with her must stop totally and completely and forever. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
