Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCL, LTh, DD, LNDC
Dear Rachael: I praise God that you have left the New Age and returned to the Faith. If this vision facilitated your decision, then praise God. The image on the Shroud, however, is quite distorted and does not represent anything like what the man in the Shroud actually looked like. A couple of years ago a group of scientists tried to extrapolate the face seen in the Shroud in an approximation of what the face truly looks like. Below is a 1 minute video showing the results. Whether or not this is really Jesus we will never know in this life. That does not diminish your experience, however, if the face you saw is different than that shown in the video below. Jesus may appear to you in any way that suits your personality and expectations; whatever will get your attention. This is why angels appear with wings, even though they have no wings, or why our Blessed Mother may appear as a Mexican, an African, a Russian, a Semite, or an European. Each culture sees the Blessed Mother, or our Lord, as the case may be, according to their own traditions and expectations.
God works in many ways. For you, he saved you from the New Age in however He appeared. Praise God. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
