The Great Harlot of Revelation | José | Monday, January 14, 2013 |
Question: I was taught years ago in my Catholic high school bible study class that The Great Harlot of the Book of Revelation, Chapter 17 was ancient imperial Rome. I now hear some Catholic apologists say that it was Jerusalem because among other things, it also has 7 hills as Rome does, etc...The Bible says in Revelation that the great city where the harlot sits ruled over the kings of the earth. As far as I know, it was ancient Rome that ruled over the earth at that time, not Jerusalem. Also, if it was ancient Rome, what kind of harlotry did it commit? Jerusalem on the other hand did commit spiritual harlotry by rejecting Christ. I'm confused. Thanks for your reply, Brother and God bless. |
