Dear Angela: I imagine what you are seeing are working dogs. Those who are blind or have some other medical conditions may have guide and working dogs. Those people are allowed to bring their dogs into grocery stores and restaurants and other places where normally animals are not allowed. Other than working dogs, pets should not be brought to Mass, unless there is a blessing of animals taking place. A procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and even horses, is led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets. This is usually on October 4, the Feast of St. Francis. Most of this is done outside of the Church building, especially horses God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
