Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Crystal: Any Christian pastor who advises a person to go to a shaman for any reason ought to be de-frocked. It is horrific that a Christian pastor would tell someone to go see the devil; and that is what he did when he advised this person to see a shaman. Shame, shame, shame on him. God is more powerful than any curse. Anyone can pray a prayer to break a curse. We have such a prayer in our Breaking Personal Curses and Spells. In some instances it can be very difficult to break a spell or curse. There are many reasons for this. The most often cause is that the person is not living the Christ-Life and thus not willing to resign themselves to Christ. Sometimes the reason is that it may be God's will that the person remain afflicted until they learn something God wants them to learn, or some other reason that only God know that is in the best interest of the person. It should be noted that most curses and spells do not work. Most of the time the attempt to curse someone boomerangs on the curse-caster and they, instead of the intended target, is the one cursed. Keep in mind that anything you see on the History Channel, Biography Channel, A&E Channel, or any other of those channels will not give you accurate information about the Catholic Church, or about spiritual warfare issues.
