Question:

hi

ive been struggling with all kinds of terrible doubts and fears , since i did the total concecration to mary through jesus all of a sudden ive been struggling with thoughts like you worshiping mary or that mary is divine ( i learnt that ofcourse she is very holy and i do venerate her and i do love her but i know she isnt God ) and now recently i got thoughts like does mary worship God . well my i would believe she does since God created her , i tried looking for the answer but i cant seem to find anything to help besides the scripture " every knee she'll bow and every tong proclaim that jesus christ is lord" . but i have struggled terribly and i always feel like im sinning no matter what i do to fight these thoughts . i feel like i dont honor mary the way she deserves then at the same time i end up feeling like im not worshipping God its a real mess . i feel the evil one has been sowing confusion and fears but i dont know how to counter this properly . i do understand that mary is the mother of God that she's immaculate and co redemtrix , thats she is sinless i do believe these things and i do love her as my mother well i try .

Dear Howard:

Congratulations on the Consecration to Mary. 

What you are probably experiencing is the devil's revenge for daring to consecrate yourself to Mary.

You need to rebuke any thought that you do not want. We have a Prayer to Control Thoughts and a Rebuking Particular Spirits in our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog.

You need to rebuke these spirits by their attribute, such as, 'I rebuke you spirit of: idolatry (concerning the deification of Mary), accusation (concerning feeling like you are sinning all the time), guilt, confusion, etc. Rebuke any other spirit that may be harassing you by calling it by its attribute (See Rebuking Particular Spirits in the Catalog).

You need to rebuke these thoughts each and every time they pop into your head. So if these thoughts happen 200 times a day, then you rebuke them 200 times a day.

A short version to control thoughts:

I rebuke these unwanted thoughts. Lord protect me from the spirits that give me these thoughts. I want only thoughts pleasing to you.

A short version of rebuking evil spirits:

I rebuke this spirit of ______, and ask you Lord to give me a spirit of ________ (opposite spirit as the negative one. For example the opposite of confession is clarity, the opposite of idolatry is the Trinity, the opposite of accusation is Truth, the opposite of guilt is innocence.

For good measure I would also advise going through the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance.
