Question Title Posted By Question Date
The Upcoming Presidential Election John R. Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Question:

Bro. Ignatius Mary,

With only two weeks left before the presidential election I feel compelled to make this statement. Although I can not speak for the priests across our country, or for the Bishop’s, under whose control they remain, I can, and will, speak for my parish Church, our Shrine, “Mary, Queen of the Universe”, and St. Faustina, a new Church in the process of being built.

I have come to this frightening conclusion. As I see it, my biggest problem stems from the fact that my Parish Church Pastor, priest’s from our Shrine, as well as those from St. Faustina, never, at least, during the past five years, have preached even one homily on the evil of sin. The only homilies being preached are those directing us toward obedience to Christ's Second Commandment, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”.

Understandably, Christ's Second Commandment is to be obeyed, but not to the exclusion of the First Commandment which happens to be, “Love the Lord thy God with your whole heart, mind, and body”. In order to be obedient to God's First Commandment, we must be obedient to God’s other Nine Commandments which, in fact, relate to the evil of sin.

Bro. Ignatius, there are now almost two million abortions performed in the United States every year. President Obama is in full support of “Abortion”, even “Partial Birth Abortion”. President Obama also supports the killing of the baby should the baby survive the “Abortion”. As appalling as these things are, President Obama goes even further by his support of same-sex marriage.

My parish priest, those priests at the Shrine, and at St. Faustina, week after week fail to mention any of these mortal sins in their homilies.

I just do not understand how sin, mortal sin that can lose us our eternal salvation can go, week after week, without being addressed in any of the homilies I have listened to over the past five years?

Please Bro. Iganatius, we need your help, comment on the fact that, not only is Abortion a mortal sin, but should anyone condone it, or support a candidate who condones it,
will be guilty of committing a mortal sin.

God Bless,

John R.

Question Answered by

Dear John:

Well, if your bishop and parish priest is not saying it, I will say it.

Any Catholic voting for Obama buys a ticket to hell, is not in communion with the Church, and thus commits a sacrilege against the Body and Blood Christ if they receive the Eucharist without confessing their mortal sin of voting for Obama.

This is not merely my opinion, but the opinion of bishop after bishop. Case in point:

For other statements from many bishops on this issue see U.S. Bishops Address Catholic Politicians and Voters.

With Obama, he is not only a pro-abortion candidate, but he is a candidate that supports most of the intrinsic evils out there.

I have spoken about this on several of the episodes of Chronicles of Catholic Commentary, including the follow episodes:

Next Thursday, November 1st, I will have another show talking about the Election. Then I will have a post-election show.

These shows are broadcast live on BlogTalkRadio on Thursdays at 7pm Central time.

Tonight's show will not be on the election, but on Halloween. The title of the show is, "Should Christians Participate in Halloween".

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
