The Church as the Eucharist | Nathan | Saturday, September 15, 2012 |
Question: I was at a one day conference and the speaker was talking about the Church. He stated that since the Church is the Body of Christ and the Eucharist is the body of Jesus, and since we are members of the church WE are the Eucharist. I was a little puzzled as I have never heard of the Church members being referred to as the Eucharist. He said it twice, "....we are the Eucharist.." Is that correct? |

Question Answered by
Dear Nathan: We are not the Eucharist. If this speaker is saying that then he is teaching heresy and should be reported. The Church is the Bride of Christ and we all members of Christ's Body in a profoundly mystical and spiritual way. It is similar that we are all individuals but we are members of he Body of our Family. Our bodies are uniquely our own. Our bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our spirits. That being the case, how can we be Christ's physical body? His body in the incarnation of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. His body is uniquely his own, was glorified, and is in heaven right now sitting at the right hand of the Father. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. No other person is in the Eucharist but His. This numskull needs to be corrected and prevented from teaching until he is re-educated. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
