Shriner (33re degree Freemason) at Mass | Cornelius | Tuesday, September 28, 2004 |
Question: I have noticed that at my parish there is always a truck that is covered with Masonic decals, including the Shriners. I don't know whose truck it is, but it is always there at the same Mass. I think it may be someone that helps during the liturgy because the truck is there early and stays after Mass. Should I mention this to the pastor? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+
Dear Cornelius: Since being a Mason is a grave sin and as the Holy See has specifically banned all Catholic Masons from the Eucharist, it is a major issue if a Mason is receiving the Eucharist, and even a greater issue for a Mason to be any kind of parish employee, volunteer, and especially an extraordinary minister. I think I would make an inquiry about it to the pastor in a respectful and calm way. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
