Question: can a person wear their rosary around their neck? i was always told you shouldn't, but i've seen people do it with good intentions.

Ignatius Mary, OLSM+ Dear Brenda: There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing a Rosary around one's neck any more than there is anything wrong with wearing a religious medal around one's neck. Religious monks and nuns often wear a Rosary draped over their cincture (belt). I fail to see how this is any different than wearing it around one's neck. At least around the neck the Rosary hangs over one's heart. The Rosary I wear on my habit draped on my cincture hangs over my thigh. :) If you wish to, go ahead, there is nothing wrong with it. Dear Brenda:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing a Rosary around one's neck any more than there is anything wrong with wearing a religious medal around one's neck.
