My wife has unholy pleasures

Question:

I have a problem. My wife caved in to sin after a afternoon of drinking. She told me she was drunk and went to a pornography store. She says she aimlessly walked into the fecal fetish section and got extremely turned on. We've been married for 9 years and together for 15. At first I was disgusted by the thought of the proposition but later it came to mind and it intrigued me. These past couple years with her have not been the best, but I still love her. If we were to try it how would we go about it without committing sin if possible

Dear Joseph:

Under no circumstances should you and your wife try this. This is perverted, a health risk, and a sign of a psychological disorder called a paraphilia. This particular paraphilia is called coprophilia. This situation also is proof of why Bible teaches that drunkenness is a sin.

While all sex outside the marriage bed is disordered and sin, that does not mean that anything goes within the marriage bed.

Any sexual practice that degrades the human person is not permitting in the marriage bed. Thus, practices such as sadomasochism, bondage, spanking, excretion fetishes, rape fantasies, domination, humiliation, and other similar practices degrade the human person and are not permitted.

The marital embrace is actually a holy act, unless it is perverted. The marital embrace is an sublime image of the relationship between Christ (the bridegroom) and His Bride (the Church). When we pervert the marriage bed with unholy and perverted acts, we are participating with the devil to pervert the beautiful and holy relationship of Christ with his Church. You do not want to do that, basically throwing excrement in the face of God.

Your wife and yourself should seek counseling from a good Catholic counselor who is loyal to the Church to overcome this paraphilia. I would also suggest thinking about this from a spiritual warfare point-of-view, as it is the devil who encourages such perverted acts. Our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog has prayers that you and your wife should pray. There is one in particular called Rebuking Particular Spirits which you can pray to rebuke the spirit of this fetish.

We will be praying that you and your wife will be healed of this disorder.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
