Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Crystal: It would not be appropriate to pour Holy Water in a dirty mop bucket. There is no need to do this, as you can properly blessed the house in a normal way. Holy Water or Holy Oil an be used to bless yourself or your loved ones as long as you do not do it the way a priest does. You are not giving the Sacrament of Anointment. As for bathing in Holy Water or Holy Salt, we have the same problem as with the mop bucket. The bath water becomes dirty, and what is worse the Holy substances go down into the drain into the sewer. This is not proper and again, there is no need as you can bless yourself in the normal way. If one needs to dispose of Holy Water or Holy Oil, it should be pour out onto the ground. If you have an ache in some part of your body you could massage that area using Holy Oil. In regards to Candles, the Church does use different color to mean specific things, but for your purpose it does not matter what color candle you use. STOP listening to anti-Christian sources.
