Question: Hello Brother, My question concerns the scapular. Is it permitted to wash the scapular? It tends to get dirty sometimes and was wondering if one is permitted to wash it. Thank you. God bless.
Question Answered by Dear Bertha: Yes, you can wash the scapular. Should the scapular become unusable it must be properly disposed since it is a blessed object. To dispose of any blessed item, take the item apart in what ever fashion so that it does not resemble what was. Once it is destroyed, bury the item in the ground. Until that time, you can wash it. Yes, you can wash the scapular.

Should the scapular become unusable it must be properly disposed since it is a blessed object. To dispose of any blessed item, take the item apart in what ever fashion so that it does not resemble what was. Once it is destroyed, bury the item in the ground.

Until that time, you can wash it. No problem.
