Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear A.J.: The only prayers regulated are liturgical prayers of the Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours, the Sacraments, and certain other prayers reserved to clergy. The Rosary is a personal devotion and not a liturgy, thus it is not regulated. We are free to pray the Rosary any way we choose. The Rosary beads can be used for other prayers beside the Rosary. There are many prayer forms other than the Rosary that use those beads. It is also okay to use the beads to create your own prayer forms. What you are doing is fine.
