Question Answered by
Dear Agnes: Dr. Ralph F. Wilson is a evangelical baptist. One of the tenets of evangelical Christianity is "We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. " This idea of sola scriptura (bible alone) was an invention of the heretics who rebelled against the Catholic Church (Luther, Calvin, et al.) 1500 hundred years after the birth of the Catholic Church. The Bible itself refutes the notion of the the "bible alone" (John 21:25; 1 Cor 11:2; 2 Thess. 2:15; 3:6). Sacred Tradition predates the New Testament. The Church operated and taught Christian Tradition for decades before the New Testament was even written, and hundreds of years before the Church settled on which letter actually belong in the New Testament. The Authoritative and infallible Word of God is Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture as interpreted by Christ's appointed Magisterium (Peter and his successors). Thus, while the bible studies of Dr. Wilson may contain a lot of good information, his interpretations of Scripture will be at variance, at times, with the Catholic Church -- which is the only authority on the planet to officially interpret Scripture. If you would like to participate in Bible Studies, I suggest Dr. Scott Hahn and the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, founded by Dr. Hahn. Dr. Hahn is the world's premier bible teacher. His tapes and materials, and the courses at the St. Paul Center are the best available for the Catholic. I highly recommend Dr. Hahn and the St. Paul Center.
