How to pronouce the name | Jerald | Friday, June 24, 2011 |
Question: I am currently transcribing the entire work, "Goffine's Devout Instructions as a non-commercial website using Blogger. It is a surperb work written a German priest around 1690 that covers traditional Catholic practices, explains the various parts of the liturgy, the Sundays and Feasts, etc. The work was reprinted by Benzinger Brothers in 1896, of which can be found today if you look for it. Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Jerald: Goffine's Devout instructions on the Epistles and Gospels for the Sundays and holydays, by Fr. Leonhard Goffine, 1648-1719, is an excellent work. We intend to include it in our Library on our Site. You are doing a good job translating this work into your blog. I would remove the blog banner at the top, however. Doing that will make your site look more professional. The banner can be removed in the settings panel of your blog. I am afraid I do not know how to pronounce Goffine, a German name. If I had to guess it would be Gof-fin-e, but I really do not know. I suppose I can ask my niece, who is German, the next time I see her. But, for now, I can't help you. Update: My niece thought the name was more French than German, but she said the German pronunciation would be: Go-feen-e (Go- as in golf; -feen- eh (like the "e" in empty) with the "feen" part most pronounced. God Bless,
