Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Susi: The Church encourages dating and marrying good Catholics, not bad Catholics. Eligible good Catholics can be found although good men (and women) are always hard to find. The difficulty is finding a good Catholic to date and marry does not excuse dating and marrying a non-Catholic. We need to trust in God to bring across our path a good Catholic. If we do not wait upon the Lord, if we do not trust Him enough to wait for Him to find us a good mate, then our faith is lacking. That faith problem will add to the problems of marrying a non-Catholics, even to a good non-Catholic Christian. Bottomline: dating and marrying even a good Baptist creates problems in the marriage and with the children that I mentioned before in the other postings. In fact, marrying a good Baptist will cause more problems because a good Baptist will have a stronger faith that includes prejudice against the Catholic faith. I know it is hard, but pray to God that he will place in your path a good Catholic man. We all need to resign and abandon ourselves to God's will.
