Dear Judy: Our Lady of Vailankanni is also called Our Lady of Good Health. You can read the story from the website of the Vailankanni Church website or on the website of the Shrine. As for approval, Our Lady of Good Health was never formally approved, but approval is implied when Pope John XXIII raised the Shrine to the status of a 'Basilica on November 3, 1962. The apparitions and the many healings was significant in the Pope's decision to raise the Shrine to the dignity of Basilica after Bishop Sundram requested this from the Holy Father when he attended the second session of Vatican II.
