Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+

Dear Susie:

John 2:18-22 is referring to Jesus, the true temple of God, identifying the Jerusalem Temple with His own body refering to His Incarnation.

This temple (He himself) will be destroyed, but raised again into the glory of the Resurrection that brings an end to the Mosaic Covenant and thus the Temple of the Mosaic Covenant. Thus Jesus raises up a new Temple of God, which is Himself in the Eucharist, and makes a New and Everlasting Covenant of Himself with His Church built upon Peter.

An addition sign of the end of the Mosaic Covenant, by the way, with its Temple economy, was that at the moment of Jesus' death on the Cross the veil protecting the Holy of Holies was ripped against the grain (which is not possible).

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
