Contribution to organizations that support abortion | Chas | Friday, July 16, 2010 |
Question: I am constantly getting calls to purchase tickets in supporting children to go to the Shriners Circus or calls to support organizaitons that are working to find a cure for cancer. However, this cancer organization, I have found out, is a big contributor to Planned Parenthood. Can I in good conscience just say I do not wish to contribute to either organization? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Chas: You are not required to donate to any group. There is no reason to feel obligated. It is simply not possible to donate to every organization that asks no matter how worthy they are. Thus, we must decide which organizations we wish to support and not feel guilty for supporting more. In terms of any organization that supports abortion, euthanasia, embryo stem cell research, assisted suicide, homosexual "marriage", or any other grave sin, regardless of what else they may do that might be worthy, we ought not to donate at all. To give such organizations money is to support the evil they do. When such organizations call you can tell them why you are not interested or just say, "No thank you, not interested."
