Question: If you re marry after a spose dies what happens in heaven with more than one spose |
||
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Midge: There is no marriage in heaven. Marriage is "by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring" (CCC 1601). This bond lasts until death. In addition, there is no sex and no childbirth in heaven so there is no purpose for marriage in heaven. We will recognize our spouse or spouses in heaven and that we were married to them on earth, but we will not be married to them (This is the teaching of Christ. See Luke 20:21-40). We will be friends. But, there is no need for a "helpmate" as we will be in perfect union with God and each other. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
