Delay for child's Baptism | Father Smith | Thursday, May 6, 2010 |
Question: As usual Brother, an excellent answer. One additional piece in the mother's question concerns the age of the child. After the age of 7 (the child is 8 here) the rites are no longer those for an infant but for an adult. This means that the child is to be prepared for Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion through the catechumenate which is generally a two year process. |
