Fighting Temptation close to Nocturnal Emission A Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Question:

Brother - I had written to you earlier (email subject title 'Sexual Sins'). I have another question.

Given my wife's condition (OCD and resulting long periods of no intimate contact), how can I manage my anxiety (that usually occurs several days close to nocturnal emission).

I am not given to easy sexual arousal but am very weak after long periods of no intimacy. I notice that it is during these days (close to nocturnal emission) that I am more susceptible to sin or easily tempted/lured. What can I do to stop my body from getting all worked up? This is a biological function over which I have no control (or am I mistaken here?).

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear A:

Nocturnal emissions are not within your control. It is no sin.

As for anxiety that leads up to these times, exercise and pray. Exercise, by the way, is a great way to dissipate sexual energy.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
