Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Anthony: "For this reason" refers to the indissolubility of marriage. The reason marriage is indissoluble is because the teaching outlined in the previous verses. When a man gets married he leaves his parents household and establishes his own household. The mystery is that marriage is a image of the relationship between Christ and His Church. It is a mystery that in some sublime way a married couple become one, again imaging the unity, wholeness, and oneness of the Body of Christ. There is zero question that a married couple should seek advice from older married people who have been successful in marriage. The whole bible is filled with advice of the "elders".
