Question:

Is prostate milking a sin and does it fall under masturbation or is this a whole new sin?

Dear Nick:

From what I understand Prostate massage, if not done by a medical professional, can have very serious side-effects. This procedure is an old one, but has been revived in recent years among some doctors when medications do not work for prostatitis. The Mayo Clinic reports, however, that "Prostatic massage by your physician using a lubricated, gloved finger — a procedure similar to a digital rectal exam — may provide some symptom relief. Although this therapy has been used for many years, experts still disagree on the effectiveness of the treatment."

Prostatic massage is not done for acute prostatitis, because it could cause the bacteria to spread from the prostate and cause a wider sepsis infection. Prostatic massage for any other reason than as a last-resort medical treatment performed by a medical professional should not be done since to do this procedure to oneself risks serious infection.

There are many websites that talk about the pleasure that can be received by prostatic massage. Using this or any other practice to gain sexual self-stimulation is the equivalent of masturbation. There is no lack of creativity of people searching for sexual stimulation.

The sexual faculty is to be used only in the marital bed between a husband and wife. All other sexual activity perverts the sexual faculty, does violence to the Sacrament of Marriage, and is sin. This practice, even between spouses, would also be a disorder, in my opinion, as it violates the virtue of chastity that is proper between spouses.

Reading a previous answer to a question about the sexual faculty will be useful to this question as well.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
