Question Title Posted By Question Date
Adultery or Wife is murdered Father Paul Thursday, February 25, 2010

Question:

The scenario presented by the questioner can never be answered to anyone's satisfaction because the only possible choices are objectively immoral which means there is no objectively "correct" choice. This case presents the even greater dilema that to not choose IS to choose.

This is a case in which my pastoral advice would be: "follow your conscience in the moment then trust in God's mercy"

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Father:

Thanks for your comments. You are exactly correct. I was trying to deal with the technical issues, especially that dealing with culpability if the choice was to do what was demanded to save the wife.

In fact, such a person may choose either way. All we can do is to follow our conscience and trust in God's mercy, as you say.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
