Question: my wife and i as attend mass daily for lent. We went to church this morning and it was a Commuion service. Does the Commuion service count for a mass? |

Dear Andrew: Communion Services do not fulfil our obligations for Sunday Mass or on Holy Days of Obligation. Outside of those obligations, it really does not matter since daily Mass is not an obligation. A Communion Service is conducted in situations in which a priest cannot be present. The Eucharist from a previous celebration of the Mass, reserved in the Tabernacle, is distributed to attendees at the Service according to the approved liturgy and norms set by the Bishop. You still receive all the graces from the Eucharist that you would at a Mass. The Catholics United for the Faith as a good article on this. God Bless,
