Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Mary: As far as I know the Rosa Mystica apparition, which took place in 1947, has not been approved by the Holy See. I personally do not participate, nor do I recommend participation, in any apparition that has not been approved by the Holy See. I believe it is dangerous to participate in apparition devotions that have not been investigated by the Church and found of supernatural origin. It is simply too easy for seers to have mental illness or vivid imaginations, or even for the devil to counterfeit apparitions and its messages. The messages can contain very subtle errors that may not be caught except by qualified theologians. There have been several cases in the past where people became emotionally invested in unapproved apparitions only to have the Church condemn the apparition as not coming from God. The prudent thing is to take all apparitions with a grain of salt, at best, until such time as the Church investigates and decides. If the Church decides to not investigate, then avoid the apparition. Since this apparition was in 1947 and the Church has still not approved or disapproved it, it is unlikely, in my opinion, that it is legit and should probably be avoided.
