Question:

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question. I need to have someone design a logo for me for a business that will be Catholic-oriented and the logo will be placed on a website and on marketing collateral and other material.

Will you please offer me guidance on things to avoid for the logo, so as to avoid anything that contradicts Church teaching or offends God?

Thank you and God bless,

May

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+

Dear May:

The only canonical restriction is that you cannot use the word "Catholic" as part of your business name without the permission of the Bishop. Otherwise your logo can be whatever you want it to be as long as it is not blasphemous, sacrilegious, or immodest.

That is about the best I can do for advice without seeing your logo specifically.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
