roy masters and meditation | bob | Friday, June 5, 2009 |
Question: Is spirituality based radio counselor Roy Masters based meditation compatible with catholic teaching? The meditation involves closing your eyes looking at your thoughts through the middle of your forehead and when you find yourself pulled in and emotionally caught up in your thoughts to not get upset, pull back and place your attention on your hand to ground you in the present moment. He believes this practice will break you out of obsessional cycle of thoughts and give you emotional freedom from past traumas? any catholic critique of him or his meditation would be helpful. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Bob: I know nothing about this man. A quick glance of his website reveals that he is critical of Eastern Meditation techniques, which is good. His technique I am not sure about on face value. I do not know enough about it to really evaluate it. Sorry I couldn't be more help. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
