Question: Just a comment on your excellent responses to these questions, esp on the first since you said you were "stumped" Given the whole re-theologizing of JPII regarding the marital act I think we could say that without a doubt to engage in marital relations with an "ex-spouse" would be sinful --- Marital relations are only moral "within the CONTEXT of marriage" which is more than just a legal bond or even a sacramental one but is a whole communion of life and love of which the sex act is the outward sign, manisfestation, and renewal In a divorce the bond remains (hence the need to be faithful to the ex-spouse) but the communion of life has been broken (hence the immorality of any arrangement that would be "friends with benefits") |
