Question:

Hello bro Ignatius,

Just checking if you know anything about Eddie Stone (faith healer) who is based in Ireland.
I gathered from his website that he conducts healing services as a layman with the permission of the church.

God bless.
Anthony.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Anthony:

Eddie Stone and his wife were appointed by their bishop to be custodians of Emmanuelle House of Providence, Clonfert, County Galway in Ireland.

I saw a video of Mr. Stone doing his "healing." It appears to be the standard healing technique used by Charismatics with the usual abuses of speaking in tongues (someone was speaking in tongues in the background).

The meeting was a mass meeting and people were "fainting in the spirit", something which rarely has anything to do with the Holy Spirit, but more to do with the psychology of expectation.

Almost never are there any medical analysis of anyone getting healed. If "faith healers" are really healers then they need to spend their time in hospitals, hospices, visiting homes of the infirmed.

I have great skepticism for mass-meeting healers, no matter how well intentioned, where the mass-psychology of expectation is so in operation.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
