Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Frank: There is no problem marrying a woman who has a hysterectomy. Sterility does not disqualify a person from marriage, nor from normal sexual relations with one's spouse. There are two purposes of the marital embrace. 1) procreation; 2) bonding of the spouses. Even though the procreation is not possible, the bonding of spouses must still possbile. Thus, normal sexual relations within marriage is an obligation of the spouses even if one or both are sterile. It is for the good of the marriage to bond with each other in this way. So, there is no problem in marrying this woman and having a full marital life with her physically and emotionally. Your physical requirements with her is to enjoy the marital embrace as normal. God Bless,
