Question Title Posted By Question Date
Blessing God? Omar Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Question:

Hello Brother,

Do we, as Christians and as creatures of God, have the right/authority to say to God while in prayer, "Lord, I bless you?" If I remember correctly, I believe I heard a priest say this once.

Thanks, and God Bless you and your ministry.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Omar:

Yes, we can bless God. We see this in the Bible and repeated in the Divine Office, "Blessed be God forever." Psalms 66:20 and 68:35 are two examples.

It is not that God needs to be blessed, rather blessing God is an acknowledgement that He is blessed.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
