Question:

Hello Brother,

I was wondering if, when we wish to do a Novena, we are bound to Novenas which already exist, or can we create our own?

Thanks, and God Bless you and your ministry.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Omar:

The only prayers that are regulated by the Church are Liturgical Prayers. Personal devotional prayers, including the Rosary, are not regulated and thus can be said any way we desire, or re-written or modified as we wish.

We can also write our own prayers including our own Rosary forms, chaplets, litanies, and novenas.

This the answer is yes, you can create your own novenas. God will be please by your devotion.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
