RE: Was Jesus born of Mary and Joseph? Bill Saturday, December 20, 2008

Question:

As always, praise be to God for your work.

Regarding this question of the comparison of the Blessed Family to the Holy Trinity, the Meditation of the Day from _Magnificat_ for 18 Dec listed a statement from St Francis de Sales saying, in part: "There is, the, no doubt that Saint Joseph was endowed with all the graces and all the gifts required by the charge that the Eternal Father willed to commit to him, that of the temporal and domestic care of our Lord and the guidance of his family; this family was composed of only three persons, who represent to us the mystery of the most holy and most adorable Trinity. Not that there is any comparison, except in the case of our Lord, who is one of the persons of the most holy Trinity, for the others are creatures; but yet we may still say that it was a trinity on earth that represents in some way the most Holy Trinity. Mary, Jesus, and Joseph, and Joseph, Jesus, and Mary: a trinity marvelously estimable and worth of being honored."
May God continue to bless your work for Him,
Bill

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Bill:

Yes, St. Francis de Sales is one of the saints of our charism in the Legion of St. Michael; a great saint and doctor of the Church.

While each individual is made in the image of God, a more perfect image of Him is the family. That is one of the reasons why the devil attacks the family so.

God Bless and Merry Christmas (a celebration of family),
Bro. Ignatius Mary
