Doing thier thing Tim Thursday, October 2, 2008

Question:

For many many of the religious (particularly Christians and Muslims) "doing their thing" necessarily involves "saving" or "converting" us poor heathens and infidels from eternal damnation and the wrath of a jealous god. They sincerely believe they are doing us a favor by sticking their noses into our business, as hard as that may be to believe.

As for abortion, given the extraordinary number of so-called "pro-lifers" who take an uncompromising stand against birth control, I have to come to the conclusion that it's not really all the "dead babies" that gets them so upset, it's the sex. These people appear to have a morbid fascination and an infantile preoccupation with that region of the human body that exists between the navel and the kneecaps.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Tim:

While there may be some well-meaning Christians who get in your face, that is not the Catholic way of doing things. Yes, we would like to see you convert because you are a child of God (even though you may not believe in Him). Thus, we love you as a child of God and hope to see you in our Father's house.

But, the Catholic Church teaches that you must follow your conscience and we must respect that. Beside, we do not do the convincing anyway, the Holy Spirit does that. Our job is to merely be the messenger. If you do not want to listen to the message, so be it.

But, in terms of "noses into our business", most of that is the "heathens and infidels" with their noses in our business.

It is Catholics, and Christians in general, who are being attacked from every direction. For example, a high school girl was escorted off the stage when she gave her valedictorian address because she attributed her academic success to Jesus. When a class was asked by the teacher who they admired most a little kid was chastised for saying Jesus was whom she admired. Christian kids are forced to endure Halloween decorations and activities that include elements of witchcraft and the occult which is an offense to a Christian, but yet Christmas decorations are not allowed. Christians are forced to fund (through tax-payers money) homosexual pride parades, but Christian activities are never funded by tax-payer money.

I could write a 600 page book with examples like this.

Who is in whose business here. It is the Christian worldview that is in minority in this country.

As for your stupid conclusion that we are all concerned about the sex and not dead babies, that is truly asinine. Us pro-life Catholics who are married enjoy a very healthy sex life. Our views on sex are based on the person who invented sex and knows when it is best to indulge in it -- God. Since we are not so arrogant to think we know more than God, we follow His teachings on sexuality.

I might add, that most scientific studies confirm that the Christian morality on sex is the best for the human person. Fornication, adultery, homosexuality, concubinage, etc. are not only sins against the virtue of marriage and chastity but are harmful psychologically to the human person, damaging to the family, and damaging to society.

As for dead babies, yes, we are obsessed with fighting against the evil of murdering innocent little babies from conception to birth and beyond. Life is precious and no innocent person should have their life deliberated taken from them.

By the way, the only ones I know with an infantile preoccupation with the nether regions are those who wish to abuse their bodies with sin.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
