Question: Hail Br.Ignatius...I wonder whether it is the right forum or not.I have a problem about devotions that change alternately.first I feel a keen love of the child Jesus I collect his images read alot about him and make him the subject of my meditations(no special love at that time for pictures of adult Jesus).Then I loose all of that love and become attraced to the public life of jesus (no desire then for the child Jesus) after that it is the time for devotion for this or that saint or thinking about the church and her problems in the modern times ...after all of theses the cycle renews itself with child Jesus and so on... What is the problem with me?Am I playing with the devil?Am I under the influence of a sickness or a biological process?After all is it a Good thing ? should I conform to it Or resist it? Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Gloria: Do you really "lose" love for the Child Jesus? Probably not. Rather your focus shifts from one devotion to another. The Church has a rich treasury of devotions. Even on the Legion of St. Michael we could not settle on just one so we combine five of the greatest charisms into one: Carmel, Benedict, Francis, Montfort, and Ignatius. Each of these charisms gives us something different for the various aspects of our spirituality. There is nothing wrong with following multiple devotional practices. Each of the devotions will bring something new to you to help your spiritual growth. I see nothing wrong with your cycle. Learn and grow with each devotion.
