Conclave Cardinals' oath to new Pope after his election | Jane | Saturday, August 23, 2008 |
Question: Dear Brother, Thank you for your answer to my last question about Lorna Byrne, the 'angel lady'. I have taken your advice and am avoiding her. I was already disturbed that a well-known British Catholic weekly had featured her sympathetically. Anyway, my new question is about the oath the Cardinals make to the Pope after they've elected him. Can you let me know the words of this oath in English, or is it not permitted for lay people to know what they promise? Many thanks and I pray for you in your work, MND Jane |
