Question: Hello and thank you for answering my question.in a previous answer you said that I can receive private baptism Now a protestant married man has made a chaple in his house and he is willing to baptize me.But we read in summa theologica that if laymen baptize outside of case of necessity they have sinned. also the church forbade erecting chaples in private houses and baptizing people in them(unless they have an indult)also the catholic priest of owr city who was sent from France is retired and catholics are waiting for a new one.an other problem is that I suffer from 5 kinds of mental illness and addicted to many sins and I am sure to lose sanctifying grace in a few hours after baptism! Now my question :shall I defer my baptism until I am mentally healthy and cured of my vices?shall I wait for a change in situations and and an apportunity to be baptized by a catholic priest?Is it good to wait and see the future catholic priest of our city? Thank you
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Catherine: A private baptism is possible only as a last resort, not as an ordinary thing. If you have a priest coming, wait until he gets there and ask him to baptize you. I hope you understand what I am about to say and do not take offense, but I think you need to join a Discussion Group where you can ask these multiples of questions. Dear Catherine:

A private baptism is possible only as a last resort, not as an ordinary thing.

If you have a priest coming, wait until he gets there and ask him to baptize you.
