Question: Hello ang God bless you I have some question regarding personality of our Lord.perhaps you may think that they are unimportant but if there had been many controversies regarding the number of nails in crucifixion I think my questions worth attention:1-was jesus serious or blithe? 2-did Jesus care about his appearence and cloths or not? 3-was he stern or easygoing? 4-did he practice custody of eyes and touch or not (because he could not sin) 5-did he have sexual instinct or not? Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear Catherine: The Gospels record a Jesus who was profoundly compassion and kind, but could get stern when he had to. The Gospels also record the words of Jesus that were sometimes funny. I am sure Jesus had a wonderful laugh. As for Jesus caring about his appearance, the Bible records many passages about modest clothing and the like. In that sense Jesus would have dressed modestly and simply. The Bible records sharp criticism for those who were "showy" in their dress. I do not think Jesus was a fashion-hog. He dressed normally and simply as any Jewish man of the time. As for custody of the eyes, of course Jesus had custody of the eyes. While Jesus underwent human temptations he never sinned. To not have custody of the eyes (or of touch) would have been an act of concupiscence, which is impossible for Jesus. As for sexuality, Jesus was human and had all the human emotions, desires, and temptations as any other human. The difference is that he was not burdened with concupiscence that could bring those emotions and desires into disorder, and lead to falling into temptation. Jesus showed us that it is possible to be human and not sin. Our Blessed Mother also shows this to us sin she also did not sin. God Bless, Bro.
